Have you ever watch 'driving in Russia' video? They're simply videos of near-accidents and accidents on the snowy or rainy streets of Russia. They are also hilarious. Marina Galperina explains via Kottke the existence of so many of these driving videos:
[In Russia] Dash-cam footage is the only real way to substantiate your claims in the court of law. Forget witnesses. Hit and runs are very common and insurance companies notoriously specialize in denying claims...Since your insurance won't pay unless the offender is found and sued, you'll see dash-cam videos of post hit and run pursuits for plate numbers.
This means that the internet has, in abundance, dash-cam videos of what happens on Russia's roads. Some of the videos I've seen are amazing. (The best one, a compilation, has been taken off youtube but this one is pretty entertaining).
But now, after today's meteorite shower over Russia, some dash-cam footage has been upload that is truly remarkable, even to a non-science nerd like me:
This one has Bleeding Love in the background (even better!):
The universe is pretty incredible.
